Background After setting up event nepa~laya and functioning for almost two years now - it has observed that the objective with which even nepalaya was set up cannot be only achieved through commercial company.
event nepa~laya was initiated to
- organise quality event with nepali muscians
- use art ( music in this case ) - as medium to general social awareness.
- create social image for artists
- support social / educational institute to raise funds.
- promote nepali art sector and manage the art and the artists in professionally sustainable manner.
As per it's objectives, event nepalaya did organise a series of quality musical events in nepal ( all considered amongst the best in it's respective genre ) it did use music and artists to generate social awareness, it did create a social image for the artists, and it did help raise funds for social / educational orgnisations.
With 16 + programmes done in the past 24 months in Nepal - nepa~laya reached to more than 200,000 people. The theme behind each programme was social, mainly peace.
the money raised for social orgnisation during this period was almost Rs. 2,000,000.00
All was fine but lot of constrains was faced in orgnisational functioning, mainly due to being a commercial orgnisation, it was felt that - nepa~laya should initiate a foudation and work for the development and welfare of the music sector of Nepal.
Thus an idea of establishing foundation nepal was initiated.
The objectives of the aforementioned foundation will be as:
- To do research on art and cultural related issues ( folk music, cultural, religious music, art, etc. ) Gandharba Research
- To establish an archive for nepali music, and preserve "endangered music" of Nepal
- produce and publish - print and audio visual related materials / products
- support and / or organise variious musical and cultural activities
- promote and organise inter cultural acitvites nationally and internationally.
