Ram Thapa

There are a few individuals one can name who kept Nepali folk music alive through the course of the modernisation of Nepali music. Ram Thapa is one of them. He has been collecting, recording and performing folk songs for over 30 years now, and most of his earlier songs are equally popular till today. But his reach goes beyond folk songs. ‘Rituharuma timi’, an aadhunik song composed by him and sung by late Arun Thapa was voted one of the ten most popular songs in a recent BBC poll.
