Bheda ko oon Jasto Film Tour
Plenty of documentaries have been made
in and about Nepal on various issues- but the unfortunate
factor is that it has barely been made for the general people
of Nepal.
Public screening of documentaries is an unimaginable dream
for the film makers here.
A documentary- Bheda ko oon has recently immerged as a film
with potentials to bring this dream to reality.
A houseful turnout during the premier of this film during
the closing function of Film
South Asia 2003, at Jai
Nepal Cinema clearly indicated its potential.
Motivated with that response- this film now
extends general public screening in 10 places across the nation
including a cinema in Kathmandu.
As this was a revolutionary attempt
for the documentary movement in Nepal- expecting it to be
self-sustaining was considered a tough call. Hence it was
carried out with support from various organizations.

Objective of the tour
Bheda ko oon Jasto
. is a simple documentation
of a rather complex subject (music research) thus the public
screening of this documentary film had certain expectations.
As this film is all about a research on a
folk melody-this film is expected to inspire urban musicians
to undertake similar research before working on the folk melodies
As the main key person of this film is Narayan Wagle-a
well known journalist-this film is expected to be an inspiration
for young journalists of Nepal. Journalism is just not one
subject-a journalist should keep his/her eyes, ears open for
every possible issues. A hard core political analyst, social
commentator, Wagle- is here aiding a musician to find the
source of a folk melody.
As this film is filmed and cut at it's simplest form- this
film is also expected to inspire young people interested in
making films to get out and start making films. We need many
more independent filmmakers in Nepal-and this film expects
to motivate them.
For general viewers not related to any above-This film is
expected to expose them to the natural beauty of the Nepalese
mountains and thus inspire them to get into their walking
shoes and start on a trek.
Above of all that, most of the cities
where the film was screened are disturbed areas so to generate
a feeling of normalcy amongst the people outside the capital
is the first step towards restoring peace. This is what nepe-laya
had been thinking when it first launched the Nepathya Peace
Campaign in 2002, Sundar
Shanta Nepal Tour in 2003, and now
Bheda ko oon Tour
.
Conclusion
More than 10,000 people came to see this documentary by paying
an average of Rs 100/- which is more than what they pay for
other regular commercial movies.
Another important observation was the variety of viewers that
came to see this film- irrespective of their ages and gender,
everyone were seen happy to have watched it.
Laughing over the richness than crying over losses- is what
this film has proved to be.
Bhada Ko Oon Jasto
.was certainly
very well received by the audience.
