“When we started this campaign in 2002, the country was drenched in war. When we last toured in 2006/07, we had a fresh peace accord in hand and CA election was close.” said Amrit Gurung, the front man on Nepathya.
Nepathya is credited for consistently touring the nation with peace campaign during the war time in Nepal. Nepathya had toured the nation for 5 consecutive years from 2002 – 2006. 3 times with their slogan – Education for Peace and 2 times with the message – Sundar Shanta Nepal.
The theme of this tour is ‘Shatiko Lagi Sikchya’ – Education for Peace, which nepathya had first advocated for in 2002.

When fame came to her as Nepal's famous "singing nun" few knew the true
story of the struggle of this refugee child growing up in Kathmandu. In
fact, the outside world knew more about Ani Choying than Nepalis
themselves. Now, Publication nepa~laya is bringing out the Nepali
translation of Ani Choying Drolma's autobiography, Phoolko Ankha ma.
Ani Choying's heart-rending story of her childhood and her decision to
become a nun are told in simple, yet deep prose. Very early in life, Ani
Choying learnt to be self-reliant, and was motivated to take up the
challenges of life, and to help others like her.

Nepathya mesmerize Nepalese in Tel Aviv

'Working abroad is an opportunity to earn and learn as well. The knowledge and exposure you get from a developed foreign land needs to be brought back home, where your loved ones are waiting,' called out Amrit Gurung the front man as Nepathya performed their debut show in Israel at The Ellen and Walworth Harbour Cultural and Youth Center in downtown Tel Aviv on 12th August 2011. 'If you do not have a loved one back home then your rivers and mountains await you.' He continued.
Nepathya experience in Tel Aviv was a mixture of joy, excitement, a bit of nostalgia and an opportunity to connect with memories back home for the Nepali community people living here. Many in numbers came with t-shirts with Nepali flags. Some even came with flags to wave. While Amrit sang Mero Desh, an unidentified fan surpassed the security and jumped on the stage to present the Nepali flag to Amrit.
Israel has been a safe and lucrative destination for migrant workers compared to it's neighboring countries. The Nepali community here numbers to around 6,000 most of which are females working as domestic help and care givers to elders.
'I did have expectation from Nepathya, but their delivery surpassed my expectation. This is probably the best of Nepali shows that I have experienced an organizer and as an audience,' commented Yam Gurung of the organizing team.
Nepal's premier folk rock band- Nepathya is travelling to the Israeli financial capital city Tel Aviv to perform there debut show in the Jewish State.
"We are excited to perform in a new land. A land of such historic importance," shares Nepathya front man Amrit Gurung. "It should be fun to meet our fellow Nepalese there" he added.
Nepathya's live performance is scheduled for the eve of 12th August. The show is being organised by Israel based Tamu Samaj in collaboration with Fores Media.
"Israel does not have a big Nepali population but we have a sizable group of migrant workers. As with all Nepali communities, Nepathya is immensely popular with our community here. Hence to cater to the demand of our fellow Nepalese working in Israel, we have in collaboration with Tamu Samaj initiated this show," says Amrit Rai of Fores Media the local organisers. "Nepalese performers usually come and sing on tracks, but this is more challenging for us in terms of organising as a full fledged live band is coming to perform." He added.
Tara Thapa has been involved with music for more than 40 years she grew up in a music atmosphere. Both her parents were fond of music. An army man by profession, her father used to play violin during leisure. Her mother was fond of Lata Mangeswar and used to hum her songs.
Paleti is resuming it�s monthly last Friday musical shows with singer Sunita Subba.
Initiated by nepa~laya in 2005, Paleti series has since presented more than 30 artists who have contributed to the Nepali Adhunik music.
Re-introducing and rejuvenating artists who have adopted a life away from limelight has been the prime objective of Paleti. �During the past 5 years, Paleti has presented artists from 1st and the 2nd generation, however with Sunita Subba, we enter the 3rd generation.� Shares Paleti co-coordinator Aavaas.
Sunita is performing on the Paleti stage this 24th June Friday evening.
Sunita�s musical career dates back to 3 decades. She was just 10 years old when she stepped into this field.� �My family especially my mother has been my main inspiration to my involvement in the musical field.� Says Sunita.
Her musical talent was polished with teachings from her Lalitpur based guru � Krishna Narayan Shrestha.� Later composers Gopal Yonzon, her college teacher and composer Ram Thapa contributed in introducing her to the Nepali Music scene.
Nepals premier
folk-rock band Nepathya performed a memorable show in Sikkim last Sunday. The
show was organized at the St. Xaviers School ground in Pakhyoung of East
Sikkim. The concert venue is known as the school time playground of Indian
football star Bhaichung Bhutia and Pakhyoung town is currently known as the
construction site for Sikkims first Airport.
With the fall of dusk, as a prelude to the show Nepathya music video Kasaile
Sodhe kunho timro Gaun was beamed on the giant screen placed as the
backdrop. Amrit then walked in to start the show with an acoustic number Aina
Jhyal. As he started to sing the 5000 plus audience gathered at the St.XavierSchool ground joined each
other to welcome the band with a roar of applause. As the show progressed Nepathya
performed their classics hits along with songs from their new album Aina
Jhyal. New songs Jogale Huncha, Palla gharka, Salaijo . were all
well received and appreciated with people rising to dance and clapping to the
beat.
The show that was scheduled for Saturday had to be postponed for Sunday
due to unexpected downpour.Sunday
weather too did not show good signs. The day was gloomy with occasional drizzle.
Despite the rain People came in thousands. People travelled for hours from
surrounding towns and beyond to witness the show.
Nepathyas
awaited comeback has been over with the release of its 9th album Aaina
Jhyal. The album, commented as Nepathyas comeback to its orginal format
of folk-rock, is produced and released by nepa~laya.
The album
was released amidst a function organised at nepa~layas r sala , which also
serves as nepathyas rehearsal room where all the song in the current album had
been put together.
This room
is very dear to me as all the songs in this album were completed here. I
sometimes
stay
back in this room alone with the harmonium till late evenings. Amrit shared. I have tremendous
respect for this room and this stage as Paleti shows are organised here as well,
where many of our senior musicians whom we all respect have performed here.
